Little moments make the world go round

Standing around the relay track, I feel the darkness pressing in around me from all directions.  I am alone, or so I think.  I smell her before I see her.  That perfume that I have known since I was in second grade wafts around me as she wraps her little arms around my waist.  As the warmth of her smile shines up on my face I can no longer taste the tears that seconds ago rolled down my cheeks.  The light coming from the candles inside the paper bags that line the track are more than just names, they represent people, of all ages that each have their own story.  As my hair blows gently in the wind I can't help but feel a sense of hope coming from that smile of hers as she tells me that she is so thankful that I am still around to share this moment with her.

  1. Darling, this was gorgeous. :] I loved how deep and touching you made Relay for Life. It really made me appreciate being there.

I could picture it. In slow motion. With dramatic music in the background. <3

I liked that part where you described "her." It was a nice opening to the paragraph.

  2. I agree with Crystal. I can picture myself with you on the track with all the paper bag candles
